A premium quality interior /exterior hybrid waterborne alkyd enamel that provides the toughness and durability of alkyd or oil-based paints but in a low VOC, water-based formulation. This semi-gloss product offers good flow and levelling performance combined with good sag resistance for easy application by brush, roller or spray. Excellent water and abrasion resistance to withstand repeated scrubbing and wear and tear. Good adhesion, coverage and weather resistance make this the ideal replacement product for the older oil-based alkyd enamels.

Surface preparation:
Surface preparation is important. All surfaces must be smooth, clean, dry, free of mildew, grease, soap film, sanding dust or other contaminants. Remove all loose or peeling material from previously-painted surfaces. Wash all surfaces with a solution of 3 tablespoons of (Phosphate-free) TSP in a gallon of warm water. Rinse thoroughly, allow to dry and then scuff sand using 80-120 grit sandpaper on a hand sander. Remove all sanding dust. Do not apply at temperatures below 10˚C (50˚F).
WARNING! If you scrape, sand or remove old lead paint from any surface you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH approved respirator to control lead exposure. Carefully clean up with a wet mop or HEPAvacuum. New or Bare Wood (Exterior): Sand or chemically remove mill glaze to expose fresh wood cells prior to applying paint or stain. Woods known to contain soluble stains, such as tannins in cedar and redwood must be primed with Cloverdale Paint 15130 or 05130 Stain-Blocking primers. Near grade level deck boards subject to high moisture levels must be protected by sealing from moisture exposure on all six sides of the deck board, including the ends.

Recommended Primers:
Pre-Painted Surfaces:
De-gloss by sanding. Existing paint must be soundly adhering prior to repainting.Bare Wood:
Must be primed with 05130 acrylic or 15130 alkyd stain blocking primer to prevent stain bleed. Primers must be dry for 24 hours before topcoating.
Poured or Pre-Cast Concrete:
Allow a minimum 28 days cure. Prime using 05133 WeatherOne alkali resistant primer.
Drywall:
Self-priming or use 05250 hi-hide drywall sealer.
Non-Ferrous Metals:
Use a suitable bonding primer such as 71007 ClovaBond or 703 series EcoLogic rustex primers.
Ferrous Metals:
Use a suitable anti-corrosive primer such as 703 series water-based or 710 series solvent-based Rustex.
Consult your Cloverdale Representative for other substrates.
